17 Nov, 2013 - 10:42 PM by James
Sam Callahan was sent home after the Week 6 sing-off with Luke Friend.

In the sing-off Luke sang U2ís I Still Havenít Found What Iím Looking For while Sam performed Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls. The judges then voted 3-0 to send Sam home, with Luke and Sam's mentor Louis deciding to abstain from voting.

The judges expressed their frustration at Sam for what they said was his best performance to date in the competition.

Gary Barlow, commented to Sam: ĎThat was the best performance Iíve ever seen you give.í

Nicole threw a pen at Sam in frustration at what she said was Sam's best performance: 'That was the best performance you ever done. I'm so angry with you Sam! I knew you had it in you. You bared your heart and you waited until now to connect with us?'

Sam said afterwards to Dermot O'Leary: 'Thank you so much had the most amazing time and I have absolutely no regrets.'

He went out on a high, performed really well in the sing off.

He has come through all the auditions, through boot camp, thorugh judges houses and lasted halfway through into the 'live' final shows, only once being in the bottom 2 too.

He has come 7th out of all those people who aspired to be in those finals and that is greatly higher than many may have thought he would reach.

Good luck to him and well done.

Let's not over praise his performance, he was flat as hell in parts of the sing off but was decent in other parts..
